Obituary of Louis Eberhardt Louis J. Eberhardt, 82, of Cayuta, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Forest Hills, Long Island on April 4, 1936 the son of the late William and Barbara (Koch) Eberhardt. Louis served in the US Naval Reserves with the Seabees for several years.

Louis was a mechanic at Eberhardt’s Calso Station in Newfield. He later worked at Cornell University as a mailman, ILR and an animal technician, retiring in 1991. After retiring from Cornell, he worked at Wegmans in Ithaca.

Louis was a member of the Cayuta Free Church and the Chemung County Stock Car Association. He enjoyed camping, playing Euchre, restoring cars, Lionel Trains, working on puzzles, coloring and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie (Collins) Eberhardt; four children, Thomas (Diane) Eberhardt, Nellie Bea Eberhardt, Colleen Eberhardt and Joseph A.(Robin) Eberhardt all of Cayuta; daughter-in-law, Michelle Eberhardt; sister-in-law, Belva Eberhardt of Newfield; twelve grandchildren, Daniel (Chelsey) Eberhardt, Dustin (Valerie) Chiszar, Elise (Brian) King, AmberKyria (Josh) Brown, Sydney (Alex) Leljedal, Luke Eberhardt, Sara Bea Eberhardt, Alexis Murray, Chelsea Holton, Louie Tozer, and Casey Ray Eberhardt; six great grandchildren, Zoey Chiszar, Emmalynn Eberhardt, Flynn Eberhardt, Destiny Chiszar, Emerson Leljedal, and John Marsiglio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Todd E. Eberhardt; and brothers, William H. Eberhardt, and George W. Eberhardt. A private memorial service will be held by the family at Cayuta Free Church. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Cayuta Free Church, 1100 Conkrite Rd.
