Loys Reynolds, September 17, 1924 — May 22, 2018

Obituary for Loys Reynolds Loys Delona Kever Reynolds 93, passed away on May 22, 2018 in Sun City Center, Florida. She was born in Wolf Bayou, Arkansas in 1924 to Aubrey Veldon Kever and Belle Dill Kever. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert G Reynolds; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Reynolds Ronning; a brother, Jesse Colin Kever; and a sister, Elma Kever Black.

She is survived by a sister Wanda Kever Sparr; a brother, Carl Veldon Kever; her son, Robert G. Reynolds; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She earned a BA in philosophy, two master’s degrees in psychiatric social work and community development, a doctorate degree in clinical psychology, and two honorary doctorate degrees in philosophy and education. Her career included being a staff psychotherapist and teacher at the Menninger Foundation and Clinic in Topeka, Kansas; establishing mental health clinics and systems in Arkansas and Pennsylvania; teaching resident psychiatrists at major universities in Arkansas and Florida; and 24 years in private practice as a psychotherapist in Arkansas, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

After retiring, she donated much of her time and expertise as a volunteer with several boards, charitable organizations, and publications in the Sun City Center, FL area. She was also a writer and co-authored three travel books with her partner, Robert R. Rafferty, and published a book of her poetry in the Poets of Palm Beaches collection. She will be interred, in a private service, next to her husband at the Arlington National Cemetery.
