Lucien Bergeron, 90, of Biddeford died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. He was born in Biddeford a son of Joseph A. and Lucia (Perreault ) Bergeron and was educated in Kennebunkport schools. Lucien enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On June 28, 1968, he married Doris Boisvert in Biddeford. In the early 1940’s Lucien began his working career by riding his bike around Goose Rocks Beach and selling flowers. After returning from World War II he spent several years working as a mechanic at local car dealerships.

Lucien was then employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 35 years, retiring in 1988. For several years while working at the Shipyard he owned and operated Bergeron’s Rubbish service, collecting trash from residents of Kennebunkport. After retiring he found his true calling and spent the next 23 years at the Webhannett Golf Course working on the grounds crew.

His spare time was spent working around his home as well as his daughters home, who lived next door. Anyone who knew Lou knew that he was happiest driving his tractor around the yard. Lou was able to fix almost anything especially if it had a gas engine.

He loved the challenge and took great pleasure in getting an engine to work again. Lou was also a deeply religious man and believed strongly in his Catholic faith. Lucien was predeceased by a brother, Rudy Bergeron and by 3 sisters: Irene Kierstead, Marianne Harrington, and Claudette Matthew.
