SHOCKLEY, Mr. Lucius B. Sr. “LB” – age 72, passed away, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:00AM Friday, February 1, 2019 at Eastside Church of Christ, 149 Martin Luther King Blvd East. , with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00 AM.

Pastor Robert Brewington, Officiating. Family and Friends will assemble at the church 10:00AM Friday. Mr. Shockley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday.

Mr. Lucius B. “LB” Shockley Sr. was born December 20, 1946 to the late Rev. Cleve (Mack) and Glendora (Buckner) Shockley in Blytheville, Arkansas. He was raised in Blytheville where he attended public schools and at the age of 12 accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through baptism at True Lite Baptist Church.

In 1963, at the age of 17, Lucius formed a lasting friendship with Eddie B. Henderson “Uncle B.”; they remained best friends until his passing. In 1964 Lucius left the cotton fields of Arkansas to pursue his secondary education in New Jersey by obtaining his certification in Skill Trades for Carpentry. After receiving his certification in 1966, Lucius moved to Pontiac, Michigan to start his career with General Motors Corporation.

Shortly after moving to Pontiac he met the love of his life Lue Zellia Jernagin in the summer of 1966. May 9, 1970 Lue Zellia Jernagin and Lucius Shockley became one before God. To this union eight children were born.

Lucius and Lue Zellia Shockley life journey were first the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love for their family. Lucius continued to exhibit the love by the way he cared for his wife, mother, children, grandchildren, uncle, sisters, brothers, relatives and friends. He was extremely humorous and loved to laugh, tell jokes and was well versed in bible.

Lucius loved to work with his hands and always reminded us, I’m never bored, I can always reminded us, “I’m never bored, I can always find something to do”. Lucius traveled the world as a Weld Monitor for General Motors Corporation. After 36.

1 years of dedicated service, he retired from General Motors Corporation in 2002. After retiring he dedicated his time and love to support of his children and grand kids. Lucius instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance faith, integrity, good work ethics, being good providers and the love of family.

He was known as “G-Dad” by his grandchildren. Lucius is survived by his children, Harvey Shockley, Emmanuel Lamont (Essie) Shockley, Calvin (Sheila) Shockley, Clifton Shockley, Lakeysha Shockley (Ricky Kimble Jr.), Tina Shockley, Michelle Shockley; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Robert Collins Jr., Elmer Lee Shockley and Lee Daniel “Buck” Shockley; mother-in-law, Ella Jernagin; two best friends, Eddie B. Henderson and Shelly Hampton; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lue Zellia Shockley (May 13, 2000); son, Lucius B. Shockley Jr.; parents, Cleve and Glendora Shockley; siblings, Lillie Edwards, Chester M. Shockley, Katie Lee Henderson and Queen Esther Isaac (Shockley).
