Lucy Rose Hill-DeCarlo November 13, 1932 – March 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Lucy Rose Marie Hill-DeCarlo, 86 of Avon, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home. She was born November 13, 1932 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and was the youngest of seven, including brothers Mike, Ralph and Freddie. She was a feisty little Italian lady with a wicked sense of humor.

She reminisced about past adventures which included going to “the club”, drinking wine and making “sauce” on Sundays with Helen, driving fast, and hot-wiring cars. Complicated, colorful, charismatic and mischievous are all perfect words to describe her. She was also smart, talented and beautiful.

In 1964 she was the Avon Heart Drive Chairman for the Lorain County Heart Association and the president of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary #289 Knights of St. John. Lucy was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Lorain during the 1970’s. She was a bookkeeper at Barr Supply, Elyria and a tax preparer in the 1980’s.

She was a survivor and a character that made on impression on everyone who knew her. Lucy had a genuine love for animals and rescued numerous pets including dogs, cats and a duck named Quackers. She enjoyed spending time with her youngest granddaughter Cassy (Cassandra Fleming) who brought a smile to her face and a spark to her eye, even though Alzheimer’s robbed her of most of her memories.

Lucy is survived by her children, Debora Jendrasiak (Dan) of Erie, Pensylvania; Anthony Hill (Rhonda) of Elyria; and Holly Hill (Ron Pack) of Medina; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Margaret (nee Padula) DeCarlo; brothers Frederick J., Michael and Ralph J. DeCarlo and sisters Chesarina DeCarlo, Mary DeCarlo and Jae Patterson. Her family will hold a private memorial service.
