Luther Thomas Matheson, 84, of Clover, SC passed away on Monday May 28, 2018 at home. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Clover First Baptist Church, 117 South Main St, Clover, SC with the Rev. Dave Stanford and Rev.

Mike Stafford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Mr. Matheson was born April 19, 1934 in Clay County, NC to the late Luther Thomas Matheson Sr and Myrtle Carter Matheson.

Luther was a deacon and charter member of Friendship Baptist Church in Belmont, NC. He helped build the church and his father sawed the lumber and also helped with building the church. Luther was a current member of Clover First Baptist Church.

He was trainer and truck driver with Burlington Industries in Gaston County for over 40 years. Luther was a devoted husband and father who was loved by many. Mr. Matheson was preceded in death by two sons in law, Richard O’Daniel and Michael Phillips; sisters, Hazel Bass and Marie Queen; brother Leslie Matheson.

Survivors are his wife Frances Worley Matheson; three daughters, Angie O’Daniel of Shelby, NC, Trish Patterson (Roger) of Clover, SC, and Joy Phillips of Lake Wylie, SC; son, Joel Matheson (Linda) of Clover, SC; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and fourteen great great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Clover First Baptist Church, 117 South Main St, Clover, SC 29710.
