Lydia Evelyn Plants Laywell, 73, of Bidwell passed from this world to join her loved ones in Heaven on June 11, 2018 at the Holzer Senior Care Nursing Home. Lydia loved the Lord with all her heart and was ready to go home to Glory. Lydia was born on January 21, 1945 in Henderson, West Virginia; she was the sixth child born to Gilbert L. Plants and Opal Irene Neal Plants, who preceded her in death.

Lydia loved writing poetry, and she loved music and singing with her family. She enjoyed… Read More » any opportunity she had to get together with her family such as the yearly reunions and Christmas parties. She loved having visitors and always enjoyed visits from all her grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Debbie Mae Laywell Thomae; brother, George Robert Plants; sister, Hazel Irene Camden; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Dorothy (Clagg) Laywell. Lydia is survived by her beloved Husband of fifty-six years, Dana Lee Laywell; they were married February 24, 1962. Three daughters survive, Donna Fay (John) Greer of Oregon, Vivian Leffel of Columbus, and Bobbi Jo (David) Johnson of Galloway, Ohio; son-in-law John Thomae of Gallipolis.

Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Nicole Ferguson, Amber (Micah) Levine, Ashley Thomae (Denise), Cassi Thomae (Selena), Tabitha Leffel, Tiffany Leffel, Gabrielle (Thomas) Lay, Matthew Leffel, Cayla Clark, Calli Clark Greer, Michael Clark, and Lindsey Johnson. Great grandchildren who survive are Lexi, Myles, Daymien, Dalton, Jordan, Elliana, Alliaundrea, Avianna, Emalaya, Abigayle, Aaron, Jaxon, Zayne, Owen, Andrew, and Carter. Lydia is survived by seven sisters, Vella (Neil) Day of Cambridge, Ohio, Nancy Lemley of Gallipolis, Violet (Roger) Roberts of Etna, Ohio, Carolyn (Larry) Fellure of Gallipolis, Ruth (Gerald) Wyatt of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Linda (Alna) Hall of Ewington, Ohio, and Joann (Howard) Wellington of Vinton, Ohio and four brothers, Eugene Plants of Gallipolis, Gilbert (Maggie) Plants of Paintsville, Kentucky, Charles (Brenda) Plants of Ashville, Ohio, and Donald (Greta) Plants of Bidwell, Ohio.

Lydia is also leaving behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews; she loved them all. The viewing for Lydia will be from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Willis Funeral Home; the service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Bidwell, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be John Thomae, John Greer, David Johnson, Michael Clark, Jr., Matthew Leffel, Jr., Howard Wellington, Jeffery Laywell, and Thad Laywell. The Laywell Family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Holzer Senior Care Nursing Home in Bidwell, Ohio for their attentiveness and loving care of their loved one. In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering a donation to the funeral home to help with expenses.
