Lyn Patrick Myers passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at her home in Memphis. She was 67 years old. Lyn was born April 27, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee to Ellis and Mary (McRae) Patrick.
In 1969, she graduated from Butler High School in Huntsville, AL and attended Mississippi State College for Women. Lyn lived a life filled with adventure. From working for AJ Foyt in Houston, living in the French Quarter of New Orleans, working for Estée Lauder in Manhattan, to chasing the Harmonic Convergence in India, joining Elton John during his European tour, to working for Arnold Schwarzenegger at World Gyms, Lyn’s life was full and it was exciting.
While living in Santa Monica, CA, she and her two cats survived the Northridge earthquake of 1994. Shaken and ready to abandon California, Lyn moved back to Memphis to be near her family. In Memphis, Lyn went to work for the Orpheum Theater as the Director of Special Events.
One evening, she and a coworker went to Café Society for an afterwork cocktail where she met her future husband, Bob Myers. She lost a bet with Bob regarding who was older, but gained a sponsor for her next event. After a brief courtship and engagement, Lyn and Bob married on October 10, 1995.
They bought a house on Walnut Grove near her beloved grandfather, Jim “Pop” McRae, and spent countless hours visiting him until his death at 104. Lyn and Bob spent twenty-four years together, managing their menagerie of cats, dogs, and horses. Lyn’s horse Tucker still lives at Graceland as the stand-in for Elvis’s horse, Rising Sun.
While Lyn’s newfound roots slowed down her madcap lifestyle, she and Bob still found adventure traveling to such destinations as Cancun, Manhattan, Paris, and California. Closer to home, the two of them shared many happy hours on horseback with friends. Lyn is survived by her Mother, Mary McRae Sitz of Germantown, her father, Ellis Patrick and his wife Bette of Memphis, husband Bob Myers, her stepchildren, Kristen Myers of Nicasio, California, and Pete (and his wife, Larkin) Myers of Memphis, her brother Steve Clark of Memphis, her sister Lisa Patrick Wilkinson and her family of Naples, Florida, her brother Sonny Patrick and his family of Sharpsburg, Georgia, and two grandchildren, Roxanne and Peter Myers.
Lyn was not fond of traditional funerals and burial customs, preferring to be cremated. Bob is honoring his wife’s wishes and entrusting High Point Funeral Home & Crematorium with the arrangements. A memorial celebration will be announced in the spring.
