Cheraw, SC Mrs. Mae Belle James Pridgen, age 91, entered into rest on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at her home. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Monday, March 11, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Jason Pope and Pastor Doug Anderson with burial to follow in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pridgen was born August 7, 1927 in Cheraw, SC a daughter of the late William Henry and Athalia Owens James. She was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens with 25 years of service and a dedicated homemaker. Mae Belle was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was a choir member for many years.

She enjoyed traveling to the beach with family and baking pies for the special people in her life. In addition to her parents, Mae Belle was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, on February 12, 2019, Ernest Lacy Pridgen; daughter, Alice E. Marsh; sisters, Nina Chappalear, Catherine Sellers, Evelyn “Chub” Fowler, and Ethel Jacobs. Survivors include her children, William H. “Billy” (Denise) English of Cheraw, SC, Shelton “Rock” (Sally) English of Ft.

Mill, SC, Johnny (Peggy) Pridgen, and Danny Pridgen all of Lexington/Aiken, SC; grandchildren, William Brent (Karen) English, Michael English both of Cheraw, SC, Morgan (Matt) Huckabee of Ruby, SC, Gracyn (Eric) Smith of Fort Mill, SC, Robert English of TX, Mary Reid English of Fort Mill, SC, and Charlotte (Bill) Hurst of Chesterfield, SC; great grandchildren, Drew Hurst, Tristan English, Finley English, Allyson English, Maghen English, Shyanne English, Madison Gatewood, and Meredith Gatewood; and numerous niece and nephews. The family is grateful to the staff of McLeod Hospice for their love and support and suggests memorial contributions be made to McLeod Hospice, P.O.
