Born the last of eight, to the late Olivia Virginia and Robert Thomas on October 16, 1928, Mae Emma Williams took her final breath on earth, on the afternoon of February 17, 2019. Mae Emma, known as Grandma to her immediate family and Aunt Mae to dozens of others, was educated at Burville Elementary School in Washington, D.C. Upon leaving school she began working for various hotel franchises in the Washington D.C. area until she was able to begin working for Trailways, which was later taken over by Greyhound. She worked for Greyhound until she retired in the early eighties.

Mae Emma met and married the late George Washington on December 25, 1949. Together they raised one son, Joel Washington. Upon the death of George, Mae Emma married her long-time love Hilliard Williams in 1996.

Mae Emma is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sylvester Thomas and Benjamin Thomas 4 sisters, Ruth Thomas Carson, Ella McKenzie, Mildred Rice, Anna Wilson. She leaves to morn Her son, Joel Washington, Her daughter in-law Victoria Washington. 4 grandchildren, Delores White, (Roni White), Daniel Washington, (Regina Washington), Ruth Washington, Rebekah Washington.

8 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. She also leaves to morn a host of loving nieces and nephews church and community friends.
