Marcen L. Smith Marcen L. Smith, 88, passed away December 2, 2018. He was the son of the late Jessie J. Smith, Sr. and Alma Gertrude Smith. He retired in 1985 from Mid-Carolina Electric Co-op as a lineman with 30 years of service.

He was of the Baptist faith and a past member of Providence Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener, sharing with neighbors and friends and was known for his giant watermelons. He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn (Steve) Turner; sons, Edward Smith and Ray Smith; granddaughter, Melissa (Mark) Cain; grandsons, Joshua and Justin Smith; great grandsons, Mark, Matthew and Mason Cain, all of Leesville; and a brother, Martin E. Smith of Lexington.

He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Elease Sox Smith; sisters; Mary M. Smith, Ella L. Smith, Lydia Smith, Susie G. Gunter and brothers, Evern E., J.B., Elbert F., and Junior Smith. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Barr-Price Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev.

Mark Sanders. Burial will follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wyman Gunter, Kent Smith, Keith Smith, W. Mark Cain, Mark S. Cain and Matthew Cain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gilbert, 441 Lewie St., Gilbert, SC 29054 or the American Heart Association. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Agape Hospice House, Lexington, for the excellent care provided to Mr. Smith.
