Marcia A. (McPhillips) Mulcahey, 79, beloved wife of the late Robert L. (Bob) Mulcahey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home in Needham, MA. Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Joseph McPhillips and Mavis (Dunn) McPhillips, and sister of the late Joan Conley, Marcia graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, Providence, RI, and the School of Nursing at Roger Williams General Hospital, Providence, RI. She cut short her career as a nursing supervisor to devote herself to raising her family and, later, assisting in the caring for her seven grandchildren.

On a part-time basis in the Glastonbury, CT, area, Marcia continued her profession by serving as a substitute school nurse and, later, inspector of day care providers. Her Glastonbury community activities included: Cub Scout den mother, Brownie leader, religious education instructor, and numerous school volunteer activities. Her other interests included vacationing at Scarborough Beach and Green Hill, RI, and traveling in the U.S. and internationally with her husband.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, her greatest love was her family. Marcia is survived by three children: Joseph and his wife, Anita, of Medway, MA; Brian and his wife, Lydia Hsu, of Sudbury, MA; and Kathleen Dwyer and her husband, Charles, of Medway, MA; seven grandchildren: Sean Mulcahey and his wife Vanessa, Colleen Mulcahey, Brennan Dwyer, Matthew Dwyer, Adam Dwyer, Ryan Mulcahey, and Cara Mulcahey; two sisters: Regina McPhillips and Mavis Claire McPhillips Connolly; and three nephews. Calling hours will be 2-5pm on Sunday, September 23 at Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, MA.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke’s Parish, 70 West Main St., Westborough, MA at 10:30am on Monday, September 24 followed by burial at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Memorial donations may be made to Tippett Hospice Home in memory of Marcia to support patient care at VNA Care, Fund Development, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180, Danvers, MA 01923 or via www. vnacare.org.
