Marcia Lee Syester, 81, of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday December 11, 2018 in her residence surrounded by her family. Marcia was born May 31, 1937 in Terre Haute to Ray L. McKain and Margie Glee Silvis McKain. Marcia had formerly worked at Paige’s, Union Hospital and had been an upholsterer for over 50 years.

Marcia was a member of Maple Ave. United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved to work in her yard and garden on her John Deer and often cooked and canned for her family and friends.

Sophie her dog even had her own John Deer hat. She and her husband enjoyed riding their Goldwing Motorcycle traveling to every state in the Union. She was a huge supporter of Teen Challenge and enjoyed spending time with her boys from Teen Challenge.

She was very proud of the fact that she had Eight Eagle Scout recipients in her family. She will be most remembered for her hospitality and the love she had for her children, grandchildren, and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Syester who died in 1995.

She is survived by two sons; Vincent Roy Smock and his wife Cindy Lynn of Parke County, Mark Smock and his wife Tina Marie of Fort Myers, FL. She is survived by two daughters; Cindy Zimmerly and her husband Mark of Terre Haute, Trini Barnes and her husband Kevin of Terre Haute. She is survived by a step – daughter, Tina Lynn Syester of Terre Haute, two sisters survive, Linda Bevington and Joan Darlene Cunning and her husband Gary both of Terre Haute.

She is survived by her former husband and father of her children, Don Smock and his wife Linda of Terre Haute. She is survived by nine grandchildren and twenty five great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Saturday at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804.

Visitation will from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. until Service time on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Pastor Linda Smock and Pastor David Rockhill will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Teen Challenge, envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
