Obituary for Marcus b. “Sonny” White Marcus B. “Sonny” White, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, April 20, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 2, 1942 in Tuscaloosa, AL, he was the son of the late L.B. and Mary Naler White. Mr. White was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, a member of the Chairman’s Circle of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, and was named Philanthropist of the Year 1998 for Mobile Meals.

He was the former owner of M. B. White Contracting, Inc. and Inside-Out Landscaping. He enjoyed the love of his family and five grandchildren, off-shore fishing and landscaping. Never has there been born a more ardent fan of Alabama Crimson Tide Football and Coach Nick Saban.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary O. White; son, Marcus L. White of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Rexanne White Parker of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Luke and Hannah White of Roebuck, SC, Lowry White of Greer, SC, and John and Jake Parker of Montgomery, AL; sisters, Tommie Sue White of Gulf Shores, AL and Jean White Burnett of Birmingham, AL; sister-in-law, Beverly Page (Bryan) of Lakeland, FL; brother-in-law, Jackie Oliver of Lake Martin, AL; loved one, Betty Oliver of Tuscaloosa, AL; and two former daughters-in-law, Rhonda White of Roebuck, SC and Marchant Bley of Greer, SC. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Rex B. Oliver. Visitation will be 1:00–2:15 PM Thursday, April 26, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, with a celebration of his life following at 2:30 PM in the church chapel, conducted by The Reverend Joanne Hull.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
