Margaret Frances Young, 92, wife of the late Lowry T. Young, of Abbeville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville to the late Arthur and Margaret Hagen Newell. Mrs. Young was in every respect a homemaker.

She guided each family member in her loving and caring way. Her home was warm and hospitable; this is the legacy she leaves to her children. Many hours were spent gardening; she was known and appreciated for this talent.

Mrs. Young was a lifelong member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church where she was belonged to the Long Canites Senior Group since its origination. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Newell and a sister, Sophia Whitten. Mrs. Young is survived by her daughters, Patsy Manly (Mike), of Abbeville, Anita Porterfield (Don) of Pearisburg, VA and Laura Young (Ariel Deutch) of Nashville, TN; a brother-in-law, Gene Young (Pat), of Easley; a sister-in-law, Lavinia Newell, of McCormick; four grandchildren, Carol Hall, Michael Manly, Chrissy Gusler and Mattis Deutch; six great-grandchildren, Josh, Olivia, Elizabeth, Seth, Mollyanna and Zoey; and four great-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jase, Sawyer and Beckley.

The family will receive friends 10:30AM – 11:30AM, Friday, April 27, 2018 at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
