Obituary for Margaret Jean Ballard Margaret “Jeanie” Ballard, 79, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018. She was born on May 12, 1938 to Haskell and Lucille (Shiew) Hughes in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Jeanie married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Gene Ballard, on August 21, 1954 in Haskell, Oklahoma.
They shared over 63 years of a happy life and marriage together. Jeanie worked as a production worker for Eagan Manufacturing and also worked for Camel Tire Care until her retirement in the late 90’s. She attended The Church on Denison in Muskogee.
Jeanie was on a bowling league and went bowling weekly. She loved going to all of her son and husband’s race car events to cheer them on, and even got in on some racing of her own. Jeanie enjoyed going to Sonic to get her Route 44 Cokes.
She also enjoyed watching OU football and western movies, singing, dancing, sitting outside on the porch swing and reading romance novels. Jeanie loved her family very much and loved spending as much time as possible with them. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Lucille Hughes; sisters, Pauline Battenfield and Dotty Moore. She is survived by her husband, Bob Ballard of the home; son, Jimmy Ballard of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Robyn Ballard-Wheat and husband Brandon of Muskogee, OK; granddaughters, Michelle Rodriguez and husband Jorge of Coweta, OK, Megan Ballard- McCoin of Muskogee, OK, Selena Gomez and Mariah Gomez both of Muskogee, OK; great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Rodriguez of Coweta, OK; sister, Carol Maggard and husband Darrell of Tulsa, OK; nephew, Ronnie Battenfield of Pauls Valley, OK; great-nephew, Rocky Battenfield and wife Kylee of Fort Gibson, OK; and many other family members and friends. A celebration of Jeanie’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastor Ron Dean officiating.
Interment will follow with Jimmy Ballard, Ronnie Battenfield, Rocky Battenfield, Jorge Rodriguez, Blake Maggard and Jeff Maggard serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Rainey, Darrell Maggard, Bill Battenfield, Brandon Wheat and Jimmy Maggard.
