Obituary for Margaret Virginia Bell (Gerlock) Print Margaret Virginia (Gerlock) Bell, 88, of Lewistown, passed away at 11:58 p.m. on Monday February 18, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center-Danville. Born November 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Mary Ann (Mishock) Gerlock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Bell, a brother, Edward Gerlock, and a sister, Anna Katherine Gerlock.
Margaret will be remembered and missed by her loving husband, Charles “Charlie” Bell, of Lewistown, son John Bell, of Reedsville, a brother, A. Stephen Gerlock, of N.J., and sister, Elizabeth Ellen “Betty” Gerlock of Belleville. Margaret was a graduate of Mount Union High School, Class of 1948, where she sang in the trio and chorus, played basketball, and was a cheerleader. She also graduated from Kendall Beauty School in 1958 and remained an active beautician until age 80.
Earlier in life, she was employed at L. Greiff Manufacturing in Mt. Union, The Department of the Army as a Payroll Clerk and Timekeeper in Romelus, N.Y., New York Telephone, as an operator, Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory in Lewistown, Lewistown Hospital as an inpatient and outpatient Cashier, Standard Steel as a clerk, and finally retired as a domestic engineer. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting, singing dancing and sports including football, basketball, and baseball.
Margaret especially loved her spouse and children, more than words could ever say! She was also known for her beautiful smile that could light up a room and her kindness and generosity to all who knew her. A Mass of Christian of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 22, 2019 at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N Dorcas St, Lewistown, with Father Jayasaleen Amalanathan officiating.
There will be a viewing held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday February 21, 2019 at The Barr Funeral Home Inc and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
