MARGIE JEAN POPE June 20, 1930 – January 07, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Margie Jean Pope (née Carlyle), age 88, of Avon, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2019. She came into the world just as peacefully and lived her life by the Golden Rule. Margie was married to the late P. Thomas Pope (1931-2005).

Together, they built a partnership that lasted 52 years, a family of 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Margie was the proud mother of Paul (Sue) Pope, Mary Ann (Albert) Sammon, William (Terri) Pope, Barbara (David) Wadsworth, and Carolyn (Grant) Kief. Wonderful Grandmother to Melanie (Andrew), Lindsey (Dan) and Emily Pope; Alison, Kathryn (Andrew) and Jeffrey Sammon; Barrington Pope; Meghan, Margie and Victoria (Matthew) Wadsworth; Carlyle, Alexandra and Audrey Kief.

Adoring great grandmother to Olivia, Caroline, Drew, Elizabeth, Charlotte and Amelia. Also survived by her dear friend Don Larsen. Born and raised as a small town country girl, Tom swept her off her feet and whisked her away to the big city of Cleveland in 1952, where they raised their five children.

Margie grew up in Plainwell, Michigan and graduated #1 in her class of, well, one. She was an avid tennis player and golf enthusiast well into her 80’s. When not on the tennis court or golf course, you could find her walking, biking or swimming.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Saturday January 12, 2019 from 10-11:00am at St. Mary of the Woods Chapel, 35755 Detroit Rd. Avon, Ohio. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00am in the chapel, followed by a private family interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery.
