Maria “Carmen” Salazar, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Seton Medical Center, located in Kyle, Texas. She was born on July 16, 1947 in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. Maria was the foundation of the family.

She had a huge heart for every family member. Carmen was a devout member of the Guadalupanas Prayer Group of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. In her spare time, Carmen enjoyed playing bingo.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 49 years, Manuel A. Salazar; sister, Beatriz Garcia; and parents, Abelina and Cruz Jimenez. Family members left to cherish her memory include her son, Cruz Salazar and wife Jovanna Salazar of Georgetown, Tx; daughters, Maria Salazar and husband Jesse Fuentes of Kyle, Tx, and Abelina Rodriguez and husband Roberto Rodriguez of Georgetown; sisters: Pura C. Salazar of Del Rio, Lilia Garcia of Del Rio, and Norma Jimenez of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Florinda Cuellar of Del Rio; Carmen is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith.

A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (time pending). Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Antonio “Tony” Martinez, Andrew Salazar, Adam Salazar, Aaron Rodriguez, Mark Rodriguez, and Arturo Paniagua III.
