Maria’s Obituary Maria Esther Mercado, 73 Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Fitchburg-Maria Esther Mercado, 73, of Fitchburg died Sunday, December 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born December 27, 1944 in Lares, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Telesforo and Josefa Mercado. Maria is survived by her daughter, Judith Torres and her husband Efrain of Fitchburg; two sons, Jose L. Perez Mercado and Josue Perez Mercado both of Fitchburg; one brother, Aurelio Mercado of Puerto Rico; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Maria was predeceased by her husband, Jose M. Perez Mercado, one brother, Rogelio Mercado,one grandson and one granddaughter. Maria dedicated her life to her family. She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a long-time member of the Second Church of Living in God in Gardner. Maria’s faith was extremely important to her and she remained active at the church until her health no longer allowed it. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 12:30 pm in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg.

Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home from 11:30 am until the time of the service. For more information please visit www.
