Maria Giuseppina DiRosa, age 91, of Toms River, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 16, 2019. Born in Sicily, she came to the US with her family in 1963 and lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey before moving to Seaside Heights in 1975. There Maria and her husband Giovanni owned and ran the Barnegat Ave Apartments before finally retiring to the Toms River area in 1997.

Maria worked as a seamstress for 20 years before her eventual retirement. She was a member of the Senior Center of Toms River and an avid gardener winning several awards from the Ocean County Beautification Program. Maria is predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years Giovanni “John” DiRosa in October 2012, and her 10 brothers of which she was the youngest out of her siblings.

Surviving are her sons: Alfonso and his wife Cynthia of Toms River, Philip and his wife MaryLou of Watchung, and Angelo and his wife Colleen of Easton, PA. Also surviving are Marias grandchildren: John Daniel, Mary Jo, Katarina, Anthony, A.J., Nicholas, and Murphy. Visitation will be Friday January 18, 2019 from 4:00-8:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 11:00am at “The Family Owned” Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River, NJ 08753.

A service will be held Saturday January 19, 2019 at 11:30am at St. Josephs Cemetery in Toms River followed by entombment. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Maria Giuseppina DiRosa please visit our Sympathy Store.
