Maria’s Obituary Maria Gloria Garnica passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 19, 2019 at the age of 73. She was born on July 5, 1945 in Brownsville, Texas to the late Matilde and Paz Gonzales. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend; now our Guardian Angel in heaven.

Maria devoted her life to her family and her faith. With a profound belief in God, she taught her children to always trust in Him, to be strong, loyal, independent and caring. She was very proud of her name, Maria, getting to share it with Our Blessed Mother, Mary.

This brought her a great devotion through the offering of prayer to Mary, asking her for the strength to endure every battle, the courage to never give up, and wisdom to always share God’s word. Many knew Maria by her generous spirit, she would truly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She expressed each day that one of her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they brought her so much pride and happiness.

We are at peace knowing she has returned home to walk on streets of gold. She will be dearly missed. She joins now in heaven, father: Matilde Gonzales; mother: Paz Escobedo; husband: Ramiro Garnica; brothers: Juan Escobedo, Guadalupe Aguilar, Jr.; nephew Guadalupe Aguilar, III.

Maria leaves behind to cherish these beautiful memories, daughter: Kimberly Soto (Juan Lopez); sons: Robert Gonzales, Joe Gonzales (Gloria); grandchildren: Jazmine, Alexis, Joe, Jr., Jakob, Joshua; great-grandchildren: Yaneisy, Lucas, Jairo, Ignacio, III; sisters: Norma Hernandez, Margie Rodriguez (Luis Santos); special niece Rose Marie Pennell (Glen); nieces & nephews: Gracie, Sandy, Terry, Arnold, Trina, Eva, Nora, Jessica, Jorge III, Faith, David; numerous other members of the family and countless friends whom she adored.
