She was born on January 14, 1968 in Mexico, daughter of Otilio Zarata and Maria Oralia (Castellanos) Mata. Maria is survived by her husband, Oscar Rezendez; sons, Oscar Pena, Jr., and Juan Jose Pena; daughter, Wendy Pena; brothers, Juan Jose Zarate, Martin Zarate, Jose Humberto Zarate, Quintero Adrian Zarate; sisters, Ramona Zarate, Elsa Zarate, Maria De Los Angeles Zarate, Juana Vasquez and Gloria Zarate.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., September 20 and 21, 2018 at Duddlesten Funeral Home with a rosary on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in San Perlita, Texas on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Raymondville Memorial Cemetery, Raymondville, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo Ave. , Raymondville, Texas.
