Marian’s Obituary Marian Ida Tate, age 80, of Bayard passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish – St. Lawrence Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.
Lector for the Mass will be Kelli Orton. Gift bearers will be William Orton and Becky Bouquet. Pallbearers will be James Tate, Michael Tate, Brian Tate, Thomas Tate, Gregory Tate, and Ryan Paulsen.
Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Vail. Visitation will be held at St. Lawrence Church from 1:30 P.M. until 2:15 P.M. on Friday. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for the family at www.
dahnandwoodhouse.com. Marian was born in Cherokee, Iowa to Hulda and Joseph Kastengren on October 17, 1938. She went to school and graduated in Aurelia, Iowa.
She married James Bradley Tate on October 26, 1963. To this union were born Ann, Kathleen, Patricia, Julie, James, Michael, Brian, Thomas, Gregory, MaDonna, and Tate. She was a homemaker and devout mother to her eleven children whom she listed as her greatest accomplishment.
Marian was also proud to receive the first place prize for honey graham bread at the county fair in Madison, Nebraska and a first place prize for her cherry pie in Bayard, Iowa. To those who knew and loved her there was nothing better than a meal from her kitchen and a prayer at her table. Marian is preceded in death by her parents Hulda & Joe Kastengren, and her siblings Leonard, Nels, Francis, Junior, Johnny, and Donald.
Marian is survived by her husband James Bradley Tate, her sister Shirley Bengtsson, her eleven children: Ann Walker (David), Kathleen Myers (Ken), Patricia Tate, Julie Tate Judge (Garth), James Tate (Gina), Mike Tate (Miriam), Brian Tate (Amie), Thomas Tate (Bea), Gregory Tate, MaDonna Tate (Jason Mena), Tate Jawdat, beloved friend Ryan Paulsen; seventeen grandchildren: Jennifer Walker, Gina Walker, Amanda Orton, Jessica Orton, William Orton, Rebecca Bouquet, Aidan Tate, James Tate, Joseph Tate, John Tate, Andrea Tate, Brandon Tate, Dillon Tate, Chelsie McDonald, Matthew Tate, Liam Tate, Delaney Tate and 5 great-grandchildren; Tristan Orton, Tiana Orton, Noah Brehmer, Nolan Brehmer, Titan Jones. The Tate family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Michelle Heim and the warm and compassionate staff at the St. Anthony Nursing Home who cared for her. Memorial contributions may be made to Ann Walker to establish a fund which will be paid to a charity of the family’s choosing.
