Close, Marianne Todd Frankenmuth, Michigan Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away early Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Huron Woods Nursing Center in Kawkawlin, at the age of 89 years. Marianne Malecke was born July 14, 1929, in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Frank Jacob and Stella Victoria (Somerfeld) Malecke. She graduated from Saginaw High School with the Class of 1947.

She was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Bridgeport for 27 years. She married Debow “Dan” Todd in 1949. Together, they enjoyed traveling and were members of the Flintstones Winnebago Club in Flint.

He predeceased her April 23, 1982. She later married Louis Close of Birch Run in 1983, making their home in Frankenmuth. They had been active members of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

They also enjoyed many travels together. He predeceased her on February 13, 2004. Marianne had been employed at Vescio’s and A & P Grocery Stores.

She volunteered at Tendercare for 13 years. She also had been an active member of the Frankenmuth Women’s Club. She loved to quilt and play cards with family and friends, especially Euchre.

She loved time spent with her grandchildren and their families. She is survived by three children, Kathleen (Charles Sr.) Doak, Linwood; Jean Purves, Clio; and Richard D. (Cindy) Todd, Charlevoix; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons and a great-great-granddaughter due in September. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Haroldtine Malecke, and by several nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Floyd Malecke and Dennis Malecke. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 Tuscola Street, Frankenmuth, where her family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of funeral Mass. Rev.

Fr. Robert H. Byrne will officiate. Private committal will take place later in Mt.
