Obituary for Marie A. Gagnon (Saulnier) Marie A. Gagnon (Saulnier), 79, known to loved ones as “Meme”, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Prescott House in North Andover, MA. Marie was born on November 4, 1938 in Haverhill, MA, but spent her adult life as a resident of Methuen, MA. The family would like to thank the staff at Methuen Village Compass Memory Support, Lawrence General Hospital and The Prescott House for the support and care they provided to Marie during a physically and emotionally difficult time for her and the family.

Most English dictionaries define kindness as “the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate”. A devout Christian, Marie brought kindness to life with her warm smile, generous heart and gentle spirit. She turned kindness into action with words of encouragement, a sincere hug and hospitality wherever she saw a need.

She loved to entertain and was known to provide sweet treats to many and opened her home- which was always spotless-to family and friends. If you were ever able to enjoy her giambotta, eggplant parmesan, black moons or cream pies consider yourself blessed. Marie was employed as a Production Associate for 15 years at Lucent Technologies in North Andover, MA.

When she wasn’t working outside the home or caring for her children, she could be found volunteering. She served as a volunteer on the PTA, in her church, and in the Christmas in July program at Lucent. Aside from spending time with family and friends, she enjoyed baking, ceramics, watching the Red Sox, and taking walks-especially at the beach.

She was the beloved wife and best friend to Girard R. Gagnon, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage before his passing on 3/17/18. While her husband was busy planting seeds for flowers, family and fun, Marie was busy planting seeds of kindness. Together they cultivated a beautiful life.

The love they shared was similar to that depicted in the movie The Notebook and their relationship was a real life example of ‘true love. ’ She was a devoted mother to Keith Gagnon of Methuen, MA, Cynthia (Cindy) Plourde of Derry, NH, and Todd Gagnon and his wife Beth of Salem, NH. She was a loving Meme to three beautiful grandchildren Christina Plourde, Makayla Plourde and Noah Gagnon.

As one of 4 children, Marie is survived by her sisters Patricia A. Picard and Georgianna Greenwood both of Haverhill, MA. Family, friends and guests are invited to honor and celebrate Marie’s life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 9:00am to 12:00pm, with a memorial service to immediately follow at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen, MA. A burial service will then commence at the Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street, Methuen, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd. Waltham, MA 02452 or spreadkindness.org. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gagnon Family.
