Marie Antoinette (Clark) Garcia was born on April 17, 1954 to Ernest and Sequoia (Miller) Clark in Des Moines, IA. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Omaha, NE. Marie, affectionately known as “Toni”, worked in the Human Services Field for most of her life.

Marie had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. She’d often take distressed family members and friends into her home until they could get back on their feet. Toni also had a playful spirit.

You would know that her alter ego “Tone Loc” was in the house when she was laughing, joking and giving people a hard time with love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved playing card games and “House Basketball” with them. She also knew her way around the kitchen.

Her deviled eggs and Magic bars will surely be missed at the dinner table. In her downtime, Marie would enjoy a cold Pepsi, one of her Kool 100’s, read a book, work on one of her tie blankets for all new babies in the family. Her all time favorite thing was watching movies in her PJ’s.

On January 8th, 2019 Marie made her transition to the other side. She was reunited with her husband, Jesus Garcia; sons, Earthol James and John Lee; father, Ernest Clark and grandparents, Earthol and Marie Duncan Sr; grandchildren. Left to cherish Marie’s memory are her remaining children, Jaenine (Juan) Segura, Marie Ortiz and Omeka Elder, Edmundo Ortiz; grandchildren, Arturo, Ebony, Imani, J.J., Xavier, Preciosa, Harmani, Xymerriah and Josiah; great-grandchildren, Juni and Penny; mother, Sequoia Miller; siblings, Ralph (LaTrenda) Maxwell, Jaenine (Gigi) Stewart, Michael Maxwell, Steven Maxwell, Eric Perry, Jimmy Clark, Gregory (Kim) Clark and Marisa (David) Drega and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church. A public visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
