Obituary for Marie Williams Dateline: Bethalto Marie Williams, age 95, went to join her beloved husband Howard Williams on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 1:35 am, at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto. She was born on March 5, 1923 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Asa and Florence (Johnson) Lipsey. Marie married Howard on May 10, 1941.
He passed away on April 4, 2005. Marie worked at Olin Corporation for 45 years. Her many interests were square dancing, crafts, traveling, attending Senior Citizens groups in the area and caring for her family and many friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Williams) Smith and her husband Don, and Jackie Stilley and her long time friend Buddy Marchiori; granddaughter Kim McClellan and husband Jay; grandson Brock Smith and his wife Trisha; great grandson, Chris McClellan and his wife Janie; two great grandsons, Rylee and Brodee McClellan; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Gerry Ringering and her husband Carl; a brother Asa Lipsey and his wife Tootie; and a son-in-law, Moe Stilley. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be private with Pastor Terry McKinzie officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
