Marilyn Sue (Morse) Hokkanen – 39 with 40 years of experience – passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 5, 2019 at Aspirus Hospital in Ontonagon, Michigan. She was born to Marion and Margaret Morse on November 24, 1939. She married Jerry Hokkanen and together they raised 5 children.

Surviving are her spouse Jerry, children Jerilyn (David) Begalle, Jeff (Mary) Hokkanen, Jennifer Kurth Keller, Jay (Denise) Hokkanen and Joel (Katrina) Hokkanen along with 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, her sister Patricia Anttila, brother Joseph (Mac) Morse, several very special nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. Marilyn was well liked throughout the community. She was a member of many organizations including St. Mary’s Catholic Church as a lector and guild member, Ontonagon Rotary, The Eagles, Greenland 150th Celebration Committee and a Lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4167 Mass City.

Her family would like to acknowledge her commitment and dedication to both the Ojibwa Eagle Club and Lac Vieux Desert Casino. Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockland on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11am. There will be visitation at the church from 10 -11.

Interment will be at a later date. At Marilyn’s request, in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ontonagon County Cancer Society. The Hokkanen Family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Aspirus Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.
