Marilyn J. Schoenthaler, 83, of Maquoketa passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Maquoketa Care. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 10, 2018 at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to the time of service.

The family has granted her wishes of a cremation. Marilyn Jean was born on January 2, 1935 to William “Bob” and Lucille (Bock) Efferding. She attended Maquoketa High School.

She married Soren Schoenthaler on August 8, 1965 in Lost Nation, Iowa and he preceded her in death in 2007. Marilyn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wyoming, Iowa. She enjoyed going to church, cooking and being with her family.

She cared a lot for her family and always sent cards for special occasions. She is survived by her children; Charles (Jovie) Wood of California, Angela Cook of Dubuque, step-son Ken (Becky) Schoenthaler of Donahue, four grandchildren; Tiffany, Starlyn, Noah, Bethany and one great-grandchild, Emily. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Soren and brother Richard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to United Methodist Church in Wyoming. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.
