Marilyn was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on March 6, 1932, in her youth she attended Douglas High School, during her Sophomore year she was the Homecoming Queen that year. She met and Married Otis L. Stevenson and after their union they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, after moving to Kansas City she became a member of Sacred Mission Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Lloyd O. Williams, She served on the Usher board, after years of service God called her and her family to join the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Fate White Jr. Marilyn was employed at St. Joseph Hospital until the Hospital moved then at that time she became an employee of Truman Medical Center where she remained employed until the time of her retirement.

Marilyn and Otis had 8 children together, after her retirement she had earned a life of leisure where she enjoyed spending time with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, watching her sports such as college football, the Chiefs and Basketball and while she was watching her sports Marilyn did not like to be disturbed. She especially enjoyed continuing her service for the Lord at Mt. Sinai, even when she could no longer attend she still exhibited her love and zeal for Christ which she displayed until God called her home.

God called her home on October 18, 2018 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House. Preceding her in death were her parents Joe & Cebell Freeman, her Brother J.B. Boyd, Sister Jo Helen Ligon, Brother James Freeman, Sister June Jamerson, Sister Margaret Harris, Daughters Bobby Gene & Anita “Renee”, Husband Otis L. Stevenson Sr., and Grandsons Jadyn & Jordyn Mosley Stevenson and Kameron Gay. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Otis Jr. (Rhonda) Stevenson, Kenneth (Linda) Stevenson, Pam Stevenson, Joyce (Kevin) Russell, Darryl E. (Bridget) Stevenson, Andrea (Maurice) Gay, and Kimberly Stevenson.

And our special Oklahoma family who is headed by Sherion K. Williams. Grandchildren, Otis Stevenson III, Terron Yancy, Brandie Stevenson, Henry Ford, Deshon Yancy, Janaya Stevenson, DeJuan (Kaprice) Stevenson, Keneshia Stevenson, Kevilin Stevenson -Jones, Kendall (Erika) Stevenson, Darryl R. Stevenson, ReKesia Stevenson, Kiah Choe, Gregg Warren, Taja Stevenson, Amauri Gay and Montee Wright. Great Children, Kezia Stevenson, Tiauna Yancy, Kendra Stevenson, Ja-Syia Yancy, Terron Yancy, Jazmin Gilliam-Stevenson, Lundyn Obie-Stevenson, Kadyn Stevenson, Kyndal Stevenson, Kiersten Jones, Micah Gray, Erik Stevenson, Kendrik Stevenson, and Leo Stevenson.

She also leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of Nieces, Nephews, other Family and Friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church 3634 Brooklyn Avenue Kansas City, Missouri 64109.

Visitation 9:00 a.m. Interment Twelve Gates Memorial Garden.
