Obituary for Marion Bessie Rackliff SOUTH THOMASTON – Marion B. Rackliff, 85, died peacefully, Friday, November 9, 2018 at Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills. Born in South Thomaston, December 6, 1932, she was the only girl of the five children born to Raymond and Jennie Eaton Grierson. Marion was educated locally.
On December 14, 1950 she married her soul mate, Carroll Rackliff in Rockland. Together they resided in and raised their family of two boys and two girls in South Thomaston. Mr. Rackliff passed away on Friday, August 9, 2002.
For many years Marion worked alongside her husband in their saw mill where they cut wood to make lobster traps and crates. Throughout her life she has enjoyed sewing, making quilts, cooking and completing puzzles. She also took great joy in watching old western movies.
Marion will be sadly missed by all who loved her. Predeceased by her husband; her four brothers; and a daughter-in-law Beth Rackliff; Marion is survived by her daughters, Kathy Teele and her husband Rufus of Bremen, Patty Krebs of Elliot; her sons, Richard L. Rackliff and his companion Cynthia Ginn of South Thomaston, Brian Rackliff of South Thomaston; her sister-in-law Phyllis Grierson of South Thomaston; as well as five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland where a celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 15.
Pastor William Hickey will officiate. Interment will follow at Village Cemetery, Dublin Road, South Thomaston.
