Obituary for Marjorie Caroline Owens Marjorie Caroline Owens, 83, died peacefully in her sleep on January 4, 2019 at Marwood Manor in Port Huron after a lengthy illness. Marge was born September 20, 1935 at her home near the beach in Marine City, MI. Her parents were the late Maime and Walter (Bob) Struebing; Marge was very proud of her talented father who was a master duck decoy carver, hunter and fisherman.

Growing up, Marjorie spent many days on the river or at her dad’s boat livery (Bob’s Boats) north of town. As a lifelong resident of Marine City, Marge was not only a proud graduate of the MCHS Class of ’53; she was also a die-hard Marine City sports fan who wore her orange and black proudly. One of her fondest moments was sitting in the stands at Ford Field when the Mariners won their first football state championship in 2007.

On July 2, 1954, Marge married Charles (Bud) Watson in Angola, IN. They were married until his death on September 2, 1990. After a short career as a punch card technician for Chris Craft in Algonac, Marjorie landed her dream job as the head secretary for Marine City Junior High School in 1969.

During her 23 years working at the school, Marge loved “her” students; the teachers; the custodians; and of course the principals. Marge retired from East China Schools in 1993; and although she was retired, she still remained close friends to a handful of the teachers until the very end; including her special “boyfriend” Larry Rombach. Marjorie married Jim Owens on August 8, 1992 in Marine City and had been constant, loving companions since that day.

Marge and Jim enjoyed small travel trips with the Seniors and dining out together. They were inseparable in so many ways; a true testament for their love towards one another. In retirement, Marge loved gardening in her flower beds; watching birds; caring for her two cats; playing video games on the computer, and spending precious time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was also known to scratch a lottery ticket or two; purchased from her favorite store in Marine City – the Corner Grocery. Marjorie was an amazing mother and grandmother; her generosity to her family and friends was second to none. She will be dearly missed by all her knew and loved her.

Marjorie is survived by her husband Jim; sons Thomas (Vicki) Watson and Robert (Trishalana) Watson; step-daughters Debbie Owens; Maureen Owens; and Jackie Owens. Also surviving “gram” are grandchildren Alissa Seifert, Bridget (Jesse) Brown, Thomas (Meghan) Watson II, and Ashley (Anthony ‘Andy’) Fiscelli and 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marge is also survived by her younger sister Eva Murray who lives in Rochester, NY.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Maime and Walter (Bob) Struebing; husband Charles (Bud) Watson; her brother Fred (Gerry) Volker and her sister Ruth (Don) Shaw; along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Visitation will be held from 2pm to 8pm on Monday January 7, 2019 at Young Funeral Home in China Township. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday January 8th at the funeral home; with visitation beginning at 10am until the start of the service.
