Obituary for Marjorie Garden Marjorie Gail Garden, 85, of Helena, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Patrick Hospital. Marjorie was born on July 19, 1932 to Jonathon and Mary Sherlock in Townsend, MT. She grew up with her 13 brothers and sisters in Toston, MT.

On August 20, 1949 she married Robert Goettle in Boulder, MT. They had four children and later divorced in 1963. On December 31, 1965 Marge married Cyril “Gary” Garden in Helena, MT.

Marjorie worked for the State Auditor’s office as a payroll technician up until she retired in July 1994. Marge enjoyed bowling and competed on several bowling leagues. Marjorie’s hobbies included gardening, canning and crocheting.

She also enjoyed playing live keno and card games, especially cribbage and pinnacle. Marge is preceded in death by her husband Cyril “Gary” Garden, her parents John and Mary Sherlock, her son Robert Goettle, her daughter Jann Davis, seven brothers Tom, Gene, Edward, Clarence, Raymond, Robert and Douglas Sherlock, one sister Laura Lonberger and one grandson Joshua Goettle. Survivors include her three sons John (Diana) Goettle, Michael (Erlene) Goettle, Timothy (Stephanie) Garden, four step children Tom (Camille) Garden, Elizabeth (Eric) Johnson, Kathy (Tim) Royston and Jim Garden, two sisters Evelyn Winkler and Shirley Wilkie, two brothers Donald and Jay Sherlock, daughter-in-law Regan Goettle, 16 grandchildren Sandy (Rob) Willig, April Goettle (Aaron Schroeder), Whitney (Lamar) Schrock, Cody (John) Thompson, Ellie Goettle, Billie Jo (Keon) Holzer, Travis (Trisha) Goettle, Tana Garden, Emily Garden, Joey Goettle, Madison Goettle, Sarah Royston, Shawn Royston, Kelly Garden, Amber Garden, Kevin Garden and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on May 23rd at 11:00 am at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Helena. A reception will follow.
