Marjorie (Marge) Spry of Es, Iowa, died peacefully at the Garden View Nursing Home in Shenandoah, Iowa on January 16, 2019. Marjorie Mattie Vernelle Spry was born on November 14, 1923, the fourth child of Selma Fridlund Whitney and Robert Fulton Whitney at the family home in Craig, Nebraska. She was always proud that she was from Craig, graduating in 1941 from high school.

She worked for a year in Craig at the post office before joining a friend in Moline, Illinois where they tested bombs during WW II. Marge then attended Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1948. She married William Lydick in 1948 and welcomed twin sons and a daughter.

She married Arthur Spry in 1963 and welcomed a daughter. Marge worked in the nursing field all of her life. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

She was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed watching sports of any kind. Marge was preceded in death by her son, Bill Lydick, and granddaughter, Jennie Paulus. She is survived by her son, Bob Lydick, and daughters Joan (Dave) Paulus, and Christy (Howie) Johnson, and grandchildren, Steve Lydick, Bobbie Jean (Mike) Allen, Bethanie Paulus, Andrew Paulus, Molly (Nick) Jensen, Kate Paulus, Tyler (Taylor) Johnson, Whitney (Chase) Heinold, Kendria Johnson and Jennalynn Johnson.

She also is survived by six great grandchildren, Ariella and Ember Allen, Joshua Jensen, Brock Johnson, and Gwen and Blair Heinold. Private family services will be held at a later date. The family thanks the staff at Garden View for taking such good care of our mother.
