Obituary for Mark Williams Mark J. Williams, age 60, of Egg Harbor City, formerly of Glassboro, N.J., passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was the third of seven children born to Frank and Dorothy (nee Ljoka) Williams on July 25, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pa. After a stint in the Merchant Marines, Mark enlisted and served in the United States Army from 1976 through 1980.

He was stationed in Stuggart, Germany and on special assignment in Berchtesgaden, where he excelled as a kayak instructor, lifeguard, and member of the ski patrol. Mark received a medal for good conduct while enlisted, as well as recognition for expert handling of an M16 rife and first-class certification of hand grenades. Throughout his military career, Mark was promoted from E1 private to an E4 specialist and worked as a Power Generation Equipment Mechanic.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he worked at the naval shipyards in Philadelphia before joining his family’s travel agency and starting a family. In more recent years, Mark worked as a poker dealer for the Borgata and Harrah’s casinos in Atlantic City. Mark had a larger-than-life personality.

He was known by many for his kind heart and generosity. He loved to play golf and fish off the jetty on Brigantine Beach, was an avid fan of professional boxing and a devoted son to his parents. Mark is preceded in death by his father, Frank.

He is survived by his daughters Victoria Williams, of Austin, TX; Juliet Hahn and her husband, Lowell of Helena, MT; and son Alexander Williams of Flossmoor, Ill from his first marriage to Marion Williams of Glassboro, N.J. He also leaves behind three grandsons, Bradlee; Cody; and Luke Hahn of Helena, MT; plus his fiancée Grace Gao; loving mother, Dorothy Williams of Mays Landing, N.J.; two sisters and four brothers, and their spouses. A viewing will take place on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Boakes Funeral Home 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, N.J. 08330.

Funeral services, including a military honors celebration, will follow from 12 noon to 1 p.m. A luncheon will take place following the service at the American Legion located at 3218 W. Brigantine Ave. , Brigantine, N.J. 08203. A private burial will take place at a future date.
