At the age of eighty-eight, Marlene MacIntosh passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Born on April 2, 1930, in Hanover, Germany, life eventually found her in Washington, D.C.. Marlene enjoyed many summers on the Chesapeake Bay, often catching tasty fresh crab.

While later living in Stamford, Connecticut, Marlene found employment in nearby Manhattan (also her drink of choice). It was there that she met her husband, Ronald MacIntosh, as they both worked for General Electric. He proposed on a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride, a scene akin to that of a Frank Sinatra song, Marlene’s favorite singer.

Marlene and Ron settled in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where she worked for MSI General when she wasn’t enjoying an afternoon of golf. Although Marlene’s death was preceded by her husband, Ron, and brother, Dick Barthelmess, she is survived by many, including, but not limited to: her brother, Robert Barthelmess; her daughters, Margaret MacIntosh (Steve Westerlund), Tracy (Larry) Volbrecht, and Terri (Mark) Alexander; as well as her grandchildren, who knew her as Oma—Emma and Patrick Westerlund, Gavin, Morgan, and Spencer Volbrecht, and Kathryn, Margaret, and Peter Alexander. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

Marlene’s family was her pride and joy, of whom she loved with all her heart. It is for this reason that Marlene will live on, in the memories of those that will never forget her, will remember the incredible, unmatched radiance of her spirit. They all raise their glasses to her, and ask if you will do the same (even better if it’s a Manhattan).
