Madison – Marlene Treadaway, age 86, passed away at home on Monday, June 4th, 2018, after a long battle with dementia. She was born February 26, 1932 in Albany, Wis. , the daughter of Genevieve and Carl Reinitz.

She graduated from Albany High School in 1949, and went on to graduate from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Madison. Marlene enjoyed a very long nursing career with the University of Wisconsin Hospital, and then went on to enjoy 25 years of wonderful retirement. Marlene met and married her husband Gayle, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force, in Tampa, FL, in 1953.

They enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend. Her friendships were very dear to her.

Marlene was a great cook, loved to read, played the piano and sang in the church choir, along with being very active in many church committees. She was preceded in death by her younger sister Marita in 2017. She is survived by her husband, Gayle; sons, Mark (Mary) Treadaway; Mike (Mary Jo) Treadaway and Matthew Treadaway; grandchildren, Nicole (John) Loffredo, Laura (Kurt) Beres, Tyler and Tori Treadaway; and great grandchildren, Devon, Isabelle, Aubrey, Elise and Piper.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Sherman Avenue United Methodist Church, 3705 N. Sherman Ave. , Madison with Rev. David Hart and Pastor Roberta White officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be written to Sherman Avenue UMC. Many thanks to Agrace Hospice for their wonderful care.
