Marley Grotenhuis, age 82, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Memorial Services will be Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley. Pastor Ben Wiersma officiating.

Graveside Services will be Monday, March 4 at 10:00 A.M. at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Sunday, March 3, from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. with the family present from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley. Marley Robert Grotenhuis was born on December 8, 1936 in Newkirk, Iowa.

He was the son of Reuben and Marie (Ver Steeg) Grotenhuis. He lived his youth and attended school in Newkirk, Iowa. Marley graduated from Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Van Kalsbeek of Hospers, Iowa on May 29, 1958 at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church. They lived in Sibley where Marley was the bookkeeper for AMPI, later for Mouw Transportation, and then Little Rock Elevator. Marley became a licensed insurance agent for Prudential Insurance and then became an independent agent, also selling investments.

He enjoyed attending multiple insurance conferences all over the United States and Canada. He was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley. Marley was happiest when he was on the go.

He especially loved attending the activities of his children and grandchildren. He kept busy singing in Sheldon Chordmasters, Dialtones Quartet, In His Service Quartet, and sang with the Valley Male Chorus for over 20 years. Marley and Ruth enjoyed the Valley Male Chorus bus trips to Arizona, Michigan, Colorado and around the Midwest, with proceeds going to Hope Haven in Rock Valley, IA.

Marley liked to have coffee with the guys and had a fondness for all dogs. He had a love for vehicles, owned many over the years and could remember details about each one. Marley passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 60 years, Ruth Grotenhuis of Sibley, IA; his children, Cathy Woiwood of Scottsdale, AZ, Bruce (Diane) Grotenhuis of Urbandale, IA, Cindy (Mer) Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, IA, Caryn (Paul) Rousseau of Chaparral, NM, Kayleen (Andy) Diederich of Cedar Rapids, IA, Marne (Mark) Dekkers of Sioux Falls, SD; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosa Grotenhuis of Hospers, IA, Clarence Huygens of Newkirk, IA, Harriet (Gerald) Van Meeteren of Sheldon, IA, Carol (Ron) Oostra of Sioux Center, IA, Anita (Gary) Jeltema of Orange City, IA, Laura Van Kalsbeek of Rock Valley, IA. He was preceded in death by his son, Marlin Grotenhuis; his parents, Reuben and Marie Grotenhuis; brother, Lloyd Grotenhuis; parents-in-law, Clarence and Anne Van Kalsbeek; sister-in-law, JoAnn Huygens.
