Marlin A. Westphal, age 85 of the Town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County passed away at his home Monday afternoon, June 18, 2018. Marlin was born on November 9, 1932 in Bear Creek as the son of the late Walter and Amanda (Fick) Westphal. He grew up in Bear Creek on his family’s farm at Bear Creek Corners.

After high school he went on to serve his country in the United States Army. After his discharge he returned home and was united in marriage to Nancy Koch on October 11, 1958 in Wilmont, WI. The couple resided in Silver Lake, WI where Marlin was a member of the Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department and local ambulance service.

The couple moved back to the Bear Creek area in 1977 where Marlin began farming and also worked in construction as a member of the Local 139 Heavy Equipment Operators Union. Marlin and Nancy loved to travel; especially to Nashville. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling.

Marlin was a member of the Wisconsin Bowhunter’s Club and received the Melvin Jones Award as a member of the Bear Creek Lions Club. Survivors include: His Wife: Nancy. Children: Daniel (Marcia) Westphal, Donna (Jay) Brenner, & Debra (John) Thomas.

Grandchildren: Joshua Schuelke, Christopher (Friend Rachel) Westphal, Benjamin (Kaitlin) Westphal, Lynsey Westphal, Jacob Brenner, Luke Brenner, Mitchel Brenner, Cal Thomas, & MaKayla Thomas. Also a Great-Grandson: Hunter Westphal. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters; Delores (Max) Mansfield & Verdell (Kenneth) Gehrt.

Marlin’s funeral service will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 409 W. Willow Street, Bear Creek, WI 54922 with Rev. Aric Fenske officiating. Interment will follow the meal at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting his family. www.
