Martha Hendricks Miller was born in Evergreen, Alabama on May 29, 1934 to Lois Lee and George Hendricks, and quietly slipped away in the early morning hours of October 17, 2018. Martha went from Evergreen to Judson College, where she graduated in 1956. From Judson, she moved to Selma to teach.

It was in Selma that she met and married Fred Miller, with whom she made a home until his death in 1997. After the birth of her daughters, Martha joined the faculty at Morgan Academy. Upon her retirement from teaching, she became part of the staff at First Baptist Church as Secretary to the Minister of Music, a position in which she remained as long as her health permitted.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Lee Hendricks. She is survived by her children Martha Lee and Lee Sims of Huntsville, Debbie and Mike Spivey of Tyler, Cindy and Randy Watson of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren Christopher and Amy Sims of Sugar Land, Texas, Andrew Sims of Lafayette, Colorado, Michael Spivey of Montgomery, Miller Spivey of Tyler, Angie Watson Webb and Jordan Webb of Roswell, Georgia; great grandchildren Lilly and Sarah Sims of Sugar Land; sister Mary Allen; brothers George, John, and Tommy Hendricks; sister-in-law Ouida Miller Lide. The family will receive friends at Lawrence Brown Funeral Home on Friday, October 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church on Saturday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Jerry Light officiating.

Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Sims, Mike Spivey, Randy Watson, Christopher and Andrew Sims, Michael and Miller Spivey, Jordan Webb, and Robert Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Mary Martha Sunday School class.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to First Baptist Church Selma (P. O. Box 1186 Selma, AL 36702) or the charity of your choice.
