Obituary for Martin H. Herren WOLCOTT- Martin H. Herren, 80, Beloved husband of Evelyn (Germain) Herren, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 29th at Wolcott View Manor. Born in Waterbury on December 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Henry and Catherine (Hennessey) Herren. He served in the US Marine Corp.

and retired from Highland Manufacturing where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Wolcott. Marty and Evelyn moved to Wolcott in 1966 and have been active parishioners of St. Pius X Church.

They both were honored with the Outstanding Service Award in 2005 from the Parish for their participation, especially parish picnics and St. Patrick’s Day dinners. They were members of the Renew Bible group since its inception. They also have been active at the Wolcott Senior Center.

Marty was proud to participate in the Wakelee School Grandparent Program where he was “Grandpa Marty” in Mrs. Matozzo’s class. Marty was passionate about travel, nature and his family. Besides his wife of 53 years, Marty is survived by his daughters Leanne Herren and her husband Edward Downey of Watertown, Shelley and her husband Steve Nyren of Southington, his son Martin S. and his wife Tracy Herren of Wolcott, grandchildren Kyle and Alexander Herren, several step-grand and step-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Patricia Herren of Prospect, nephew Ken Herren and his wife Cynthia, cousins Marlene and Joseph Lawson, Robert and Rita Segal.

He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Herren. Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday at St. Pius X Church. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church.

Calling hours are Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. Burial will be Edgewood Cemetery.
