OBITUARY Marvin (Boy) Thigpen Jr. October 15, 1955 – September 16, 2018 Marvin (Boy) Thigpen, Jr., age 62, of South Boston, VA formerly of Kinston, NC passed away on Sunday, the sixteenth of September 2018 in the White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Burlington, NC. Marvin was born on the fifteenth of October 1955, in Lenoir County, NC to the late Marvin Thigpen and Lucille Wiley Thigpen and was preceded in death by his devoted step-mother, Lois H. Richardson. .

Marvin was a veteran of the US Army. He was a house painter by trade. Marvin was an avid musician and loved playing in the gospel band at the Church he attended, Union Christian Church, near his home and he played in a bluegrass band in his early years as a musician.

Survivors include his loving companion of twenty-six years, Annie Glasgow; a sister, Judy T. Hughes and husband Charles of Newport, NC; brothers, Reverend Rory Thigpen and wife Susie of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Ned Thigpen and wife Lisa of Burlington, NC, Mark Karnes of Bolivia, NC, David Karnes and wife Stephanie of Fayetteville, NC, a sister, Paula Knox and husband, Clint also of Bolivia, NC; a step-father, Paul D. Richardson of Winnabow, NC; many nephews ,nieces and a host of loving family. Graveside Services will be held in the Maxwell Cemetery in Pink Hill, NC, arrangements to be announced.
