Mary Alice Blanchard Kerby January 26, 1937 – December 25, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Friday, December 28, 2018, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine, LA for Mary Alice Blanchard Kerby, who passed away peacefully on Christmas morning at the age of 81 with her 3 daughters who meant the world to her by her side at Carpenter House in Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 am until 11:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, celebrated by Father Andre Metrejean. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am.

Scriptures will be read by Cindy Hebert. Gift Bearers will be Alaina Lemoine and Sharla Pierce. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial in Plaquemine.

Mary “Monkie” was raised in Plaquemine. As a child was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, she lived in Birmingham, AL for many years, later she lived in Baker and was a member of Saint Isidore Catholic Church. She had a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She enjoyed dining out and spending time with her family and friends, especially in the company of her friends at the Plank Rd. McDonald’s in Baker, who called her McMama or Mama Mary. She is survived by her three daughters, Jayne Dejean of Baton Rouge, Marie Pierce and spouse Ben Mert of Larose, Beth Lemoine and spouse Hansel of Erath, stepson Michael Kerby and spouse Gina, two sister-in-laws Shirley Blanchard and Betty Blanchard, brother in law Emmett Woodard of Arcadia, 7 grandchildren, Jeremy and spouse Christa, Cory Lemoine, Chev Pierce and girlfriend Sidney Smith, Sharla Pierce and fiancé Michael Potts, Frankie Kerby and spouse Teresa, Alexander Kerby and Roxanne Kerby, 7 great grandchildren, Nevaeh Remillong, Alaina, Leland, Layla, and Sadie Lemoine, Deagan Potts, and Kamryn Gautreaux.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward and James Adeline Earle Blanchard; her husband James Morrison Kerby, son in law Steven Dejean, stepson, Steve Kerby, brothers, Earle Edward Blanchard Jr., James “Palmer” Blanchard, Gerard “Gessie” Blanchard, sister Mary Sue Ramirez, sister-in-law’s Meredith Templet, and Alice Anne Woodard, brother-in-law Ray Ramirez and Rev. Charles Kerby. Pallbearers will be Mert, Chev and Sharla Pierce, and Hansel, Jeremy and Cory Lemoine.
