Mary Ann Doty Boyd June 17, 1937 – May 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Tupelo – Mary Ann Doty Boyd, 81, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Magnolia Manor in Tupelo. A native of Tupelo, she was born June 17, 1937, to Elmo and Ozelle Thompson Doty. After graduating from Tupelo High School, Mary Ann attended the University of Mississippi and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Mary Ann married the love of her life and best friend, William Alexander “Bill” Boyd, January 7, 1988 at St. James Catholic Church, and they shared 31 wonderful years. She retired from the Tupelo Public School District after more than 30 years of teaching kindergarten at Lawhon Elementary School. Mary Ann’s passion and love for helping others went beyond her teaching career as she dedicated much of her time as an active member of Junior Auxiliary as well as volunteering for various charities and organizations including the Sanctuary Hospice House, Celebration Village, Angel Tree and Salvation Army’s Empty Bowl Luncheon.

She loved playing bridge and attending Bridge Club meetings, flower gardening, and everything involving the holidays. Mary Ann’s greatest joy was her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. She grew up attending Calvary Baptist Church and later attended St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Boyd; two daughters, Julie Campbell Wilson of Oxford and Kimberly Campbell Miller and her husband, Gary of Blue Springs; step-children, Michael Boyd and his wife, Pamie of North Carolina, Nick Boyd and his wife, Judy of Williston, North Dakota and Julee Boyd Hooper and her husband, Mike of Florence, Alabama; 13 grandchildren, Bob Wilson and his wife, Smith, Matt Wilson and his wife, Nona, Tyman Boyd, Emma Boyd Nadolski and her husband, Pat, Anna Jefferson and her husband, Michael, Jessica Boyd, Quinton Boyd and his wife, Meghan, McAndrew Boyd, Claire Martin and her husband, Archie, Laina Ramey and her husband, Travis, Brandon Boyd, Emilee Hooper Belk and her husband, Cravens and Andrew Hooper; and 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her infant son, John Douglas Campbell; two step-sons, Pat Boyd and Kim Boyd; parents, Elmo and Ozelle Doty; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; and her only sister, Betty Doty Quinn. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Thursday, May 23, 2019, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. Burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bob, Matt, Andrew, Nick and Mike.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mitzi Bristow Moore, Cherie Brown Harris and her Bridge Club group. The service will be live streamed and recorded for those who may not be able to attend at www. peguesfuneralhome.com.
