Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann (Rueschhoff) Thege, 87, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Reverend Dan Andrews will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Norfolk.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Home for Funerals is in charge of the arrangements. She passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Stanton Health Center. Mary Ann was born on February 17, 1931 on a farm west of Howells, NE in Stanton County.

She was the fifth child of ten born to Gerhard and Bertha (Schlautman) Rueschhoff. She graduated from Dodge High School in 1948. On June 27, 1950, she married George Thege at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii.

While George was in the service, they were stationed in Hawaii, England, and Savannah, GA. When he was discharged, they moved briefly to Dodge and Omaha before settling in Norfolk in 1961. Thru the years Mary worked at Mary’s Café; Old Home Bread Store; Lynn and Sons Grocery Store; Norfolk Catholic Junior High and Sherwood Medical, retiring after 15 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her coffee girls, getting together once a week for 35 years. She was a member of Catholic Daughters, Golden Hearts and the Bound for Glory Choir. Time spent with family, grandkids and great grandkids was very important to her.

She also loved reading, puzzles, and crocheted many beautiful items that are special keepsakes for her family. Mary Ann is survived by her children Barb (Todd) Papstein, of Norfolk, Allen Thege, of Lincoln, Patty (Joe) Klima, of Norfolk, Susie (Dan) Sauers, of Sioux City, IA, and Dale Thege, of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren Angie (Brian) Haith, Tony Papstein, Amanda (Dustin) Masek, Alyssa (Dana) Conyers, Marcus (Ashley) Klima, Eric Klima, Ryan Klima, Matthew Sauers, and Sarah Sauers; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Ivan (Kathy) Rueschhoff; sisters Janelle (Don) Kleffner and Wyona (Bernie) Smith; brother in-law Richard Thege, sisters-in-law Sharon Rueschhoff, Bernadine Rueschhoff, Marlene Thege, Pauline Thege, and Alyce Thege; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, sons David and Mark Anthony; great- grandson Kellan Conyers; brothers Donald, Norlin, Erwin, and Dennis Rueschhoff, sisters Marilla in infancy and Erma Shavlik; brother in-laws Emanuel Shavlik, Clarence Thege, Raynold Thege, and Donald Thege; and sister in-law Tillie Rueschhoff.
