Mrs. Mary C. Unglesbee, 99 of Gaithersburg, formerly of Mount Airy and Wheaton, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Asbury Methodist Village-Wilson Health Care, Gaithersburg. She was the wife of C. Lewis Unglesbee for 63 years until his passing in 2002. Born October 23, 1918, in Olney, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Cashell and Hilda Bready Cashell.

Mrs. Unglesbee was a graduate of Sherwood High School, Sandy Spring, MD. She had been employed in several administrative support positions during her life. Most of her positions were in the insurance industry for small local agencies.

She was a lifetime member of Oakdale-Emory United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the choir in her early years, a Sunday School Teacher for over 25 years, Church Historian, President of the Women’s Society, Trustee, and served as hostess to the choir in her later years. She had been an active person all her life.

She loved all children, enjoyed flowers, and was devoted to any activity that allowed her to help others. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband in their travel trailer and together they visited each of the 48 continental states. Surviving is a brother, Oliver (Pete) Cashell of Shippensburg, PA, two children, Mary L. Miller and husband Paul K. of Chester, and Dennis C. Unglesbee and wife Ruth R. of Olney; six grandchildren, Gary D. Unglesbee of Frederick, and Robert L. Unglesbee of Westminster, Guy K. Miller of Cordova, MD, Scott T. Miller of Herndon, VA, Marsha Nelson of Fayetteville, and Ruben Criscio, Jr. of Olney; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs Unglesbee was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lewis Unglesbee; two grandsons, Timothy Paul Miller and Eric David Miller; a great-granddaughter Rachel Emilia Nelson, a sister Catherine C. Alderton, and a brother George Douglas Cashell. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Guild Chapel, Asbury Methodist Village, Russell Ave. Gaithersburg, MD 20877.

A Graveside Service will follow at 3pm in Mt. Carmel (Patuxent) Cemetery, Sunshine, MD In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Benevolent Care Fund, Asbury Foundation, 201 Russell Ave. , Gaithersburg, MD 20877 or to Montgomery Hospice.
