Obituary for Mary Ellen Bacon MARY ELLEN BACON, 90 of Loveland and formerly of Ogallala, died on Sunday May 27th, 2018 at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, CO, where she had suffered from congestive heart failure. She was cremated in Loveland, Co and will be inurned at the Ogallala Cemetery alongside her parents and husband, Richard M. Bacon. She grew up in Ogallala Nebraska, graduated from Ogallala High School and was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, PEO, and a past Queen of Job’s Daughters. She was a very proud American and loved her country. For many years, Mary was an employee of the Hi Hostess welcome service in Ogallala, and even today people would say that they remember when she welcomed them to town.

Her smile was her trademark. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard M. Bacon and parents, Horace and Lelia Sanders and adoptive parents, Henry and Mary Chalker (Sanders), her sisters Jean Miles, Joyce Sanders, and brother Milton Sanders. Mary moved back to Ogallala until June of 2016 when she moved to Loveland, Colorado into Good Samaritan Society as an independent living resident.

She met countless very special new friends while living there. Everyone adored her so much and the staff at the dining room always called her ‘Miss Mary’. They would come over and visit with her for a minute whenever they had a chance.

It was not uncommon to see her going down the hallways for one reason or another with a big smile on her face. It seem like everyone knew her and would stop and visit with her for a moment. She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo with her friends and wahoo with her family.

In two years she had played over 550 games of wahoo with family members. She loved when her children and grandchildren came to visit her in her apartment and would attend as many school events as she could. Survivors include her sons, Richard (Teresa) Bacon Loveland Co., Michael (Karen) Bacon Lafayette Co., Janet (Dennis) Culver Boulder Co and Roger Bacon Ogallala, Ne.
