Obituary for Mary G. Gushue Mary Gertrude Gushue of Blackwood, NJ passed away on December 31, 2018 at the age of 68 years. Beloved mother of Kimberly Philbin (John) of Clementon, NJ, the late Suzanne Mary Dougherty-Stewart, and Maureen Dougherty of Washington Township, NJ. Loving grandmother of Kayla, Nicholas, Johnny, Kevin, Julianna, Joey, and Kara.
Dear sister of Robert J. Gushue, Jr. (the late Donna), John Gushue, Sr. (Sharon), Michael F. Gushue (Leada), and Joseph P. Gushue (Denise). Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Mary worked for the Gloucester Township Board of Education Transportation Department for over 25 years, beginning her career as a bus driver, and retiring in 2012 as the Transportation Supervisor.
Mary was a very strong, independent, social, kind, giving person. She was a loyal friend who would help anyone. She was the type of person who “told it like it is” with a “love me or leave me” type philosophy.
Her daughters and her grandchildren gave her the joy she needed in her life, and she was proud of all of them. They were the reason she smiled. She took great pride in being a grandmother, and was lucky enough to have seven of them, four grandsons and three granddaughters.
She was an animal lover; her dogs were her world. When she came home from rehab those dogs welcomed her with lots of kisses. She was very ambitious, and she worked hard.
She was the kind of person who was able to make friends anywhere she went. She did not judge. She had a lot of friends who knew her well and accepted her unconditionally.
Viewing will be Saturday, January 5, 2019, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at Infant Jesus Parish/St. John Vianney Church, Blackwood Terrace, Deptford, NJ. For those who desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the Camden County Animal Shelter, 125 County House Rd.
