Mary Jean’s Obituary Mary Jean Barrett-Terry, 84, Green Bay, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019. She was born on May 17, 1934 in Green Bay to the late Patrick and Mary (Kehoe) Barrett. Jean attended St. Joseph Academy and graduated in 1952.

She then attended St. Norbert College where she was part of the first co-ed class. She graduated Cum Laude from UW-Green Bay with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Jean worked for the Brown County Association for Retarded Citizens, now ASPIRO, for 16 years until her retirement in 1987.

She also volunteered as a tutor for the Green Bay Literacy Council and at A.R.C. Jean married Leo Terry on November 30, 1985. She cherished the time she spent with her family and the memories that they made. Jean was known for her fabulous meals and loved to entertain.

She also had a “green thumb” and loved to garden, golf and travel. Jean was proud to be 100% Irish and was a member of the Shamrock Club of Northeastern Wisconsin. She was named Irish person of the year in 1998 and participated in many of the club’s dances and parades.

Jean was an active member of St. Willebrord Catholic Church where she participated in many church activities. She is survived by four children, Ann (Dan) Allen, Mary (Mark) Waldecker, Patrick Olejniczak and Tom (Jenny) Olejniczak; grandchildren, Helen and Daniel Allen, Mark Lee Waldecker, Grace and Lila Olejniczak; sisters, Helen Desotell and Theresa Held; her first husband, Bernard Olejniczak; cousin, Jimmie Kehoe; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Terry; and brothers in law, Ronald Desotell and James Held.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Avenue, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams Street, from 9:30 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Fr. Andrew Cribben, O. Praem officiating.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for ASPRIO and the Wisconsin Parkinson’s Association. The family would like to thank all the staff at McCormick Home for all of their care and support for Jean over the years. Jean always said in her words of wisdom, “Whatever you do in love, is forever etched in the hearts of those that it affects”.
